Since 2014 the Islesboro Energy Team (IET) has worked to connect Islesboro residents and others with programs and information that will enhance energy and environmental awareness.  We need to continue that, which is a major driver for our current plans and efforts.

CONFERENCES & OUTREACH

Next fall in we will hold our sixth Islesboro Energy Conference, which we held for five consecutive years, before Covid interrupted it, to assemble Islesboro community members and others to focus on ideas and resources that will offset the threats caused by climate change.  Preparations for that sixth conference and its coordination team are ongoing. 

And we continue to provide other resources to promote energy, sustainability and climate change action. We continue our ongoing work to provide energy and environmental resources.  

In April of 2021 we partnered to co-found the Green Energy Times (www.greenenergytimes.org) Maine Team to bring statewide distribution of the bi-monthly publication into Maine, to key locations in Maine, including the Route 1 midcoast corridor from Belfast to South Thomaston and Owls Head, and here on Islesboro at the Pendleton Library, Island Market, Town Office and Community Center.

We have worked with Islesboro's Pendleton Library to set aside shelf space in the meeting room for books and flyers related to energy, sustainability and climate change, including past issues of Green Energy Times (GET).

We post information regularly on our Facebook page facebook, to inform about our efforts and to cover local, state, and broad-reaching ideas that we feel can be practical, useful and informative.We reach out to local state legislators, NGOs and others to research and exchange ideas and keep informed.

Please join IET in our efforts to be a forum for making contributions that will benefit sustainability for our community and others.
